    Premier Foods Foodservice
supporting your catering team
Supporting the healthcare sector has always been important to Premier Foods Foodservice. With an ageing population and the increasing prevalence of conditions such as dysphagia, dementia and diabetes posing additional challenges to caterers, the Premier Foods Foodservice team has developed solutions with these needs in mind.
are available in four delicious flavours – Creamy Tomato, Thick Vegetable, Creamy Chicken and Creamy Mushroom. Soup is a regular item on care home menus so making this simple swap will increase the nutritional value of your dishes and can save you time in making soups from scratch.
DYSPHAGIA DIETS
Premier Foods Foodservice has worked
with NACC members on dysphagia including running training sessions and creating recipes that support this important dietary need. All recipes follow the International Dysphagia
Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), which standardises the framework for texture- modified foods. Each recipe is cost-effective and uses ingredients and equipment that can be found in the average commercial kitchen. This makes it as straightforward as possible to meet the needs of those who suffer with dysphagia and provide them with delicious meals that will guarantee dignity in dining and make mealtimes an occasion to look forward to.
CUTLERY FREE DINING
There are many health conditions and other reasons that mean people struggle with using cutlery. This in turn brings challenges to the care team and can add extra complexities to the way meals are presented and offered to residents. Premier Foods supports and shares cutlery-free dining ideas so everyone can serve meals that will be enjoyed and support the maintenance of a balanced diet. Recipes have been adapted to help and support the care chef to continue to provide fabulous meals and support the needs of care home residents.

  FORTIFIED FOODS
Fortification has a significant impact in helping address the vitamin and mineral deficiencies within the healthcare sector. Several of the Premier Foods products support addressing micro-nutrient deficiency concerns in the older population. Marvel Milk Powder and Marvel Instant Hot Chocolate have been fortified with vitamins A and D and are a good source of calcium and protein.
Vitamin A supports the functioning of
a healthy immune system. This vitamin will also help your clients with the maintenance of healthy skin and normal vision. Calcium requirements increase in the later years of
life. By ensuring these needs are met will help maintain bone density and potentially reduce the risk of fractures after falls and support normal muscle function.
Vitamin D deficiency is common in clients in care homes. Children and adults should naturally get enough vitamin D during summer months from sunlight, however, as we age the vitamin D absorption and synthesis in the body becomes less effective.
FIRST TO MARKET
Batchelors was the first brand to introduce soups that are fortified with vitamins A and D to the foodservice market. These dried soups
